Eventually, Portugal found a breakthrough in the 109th minute, thanks to a stunner by Eder.
After the match, Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded the Euro 2016 Silver boot for his goals in the tournament. Ronaldo, being Ronaldo, then gifted the boot to his teammate Nani – showing us that he has no interest in coming second place.
Luis Nani took to social media and posted a picture of the pair Instagram, thanking Ronaldo for his gift.
Nani had a great tournament, and also managed to find the net three times. Ronaldo and Nani played a big part in Portugal’s Euro 2016 triumph, and the squad also adhered together well and impressed many pundits.
Cristiano Ronaldo may still have the chance to add to his trophy cabinet, as this year’s Ballon d’Or is up for grabs. The Portuguese man is the favorite to win the 2016 player of the year award, after helping his club win the UEFA Champions League and captaining his national side to Euro 2016 glory.
Five-time winner, Lionel Messi, may be out of the running for the award as he hasn’t experienced much success on a national level. But, there are still 5 months left, and anything could happen.
