Long-term Manchester United target, Paul Pogba, is believed to favor a switch to the Bernabeu instead of returning to his former club.
According to the Cadena SER, the 23-year-old is reluctant to return to Old Trafford, and instead would like to link up with Zinedine Zidane. However, his agent Mino Raiola is trying to negotiate a better financial package with the Red Devils.
Manchester United have reportedly been rejected twice in their pursuit for Pogba. The Red Devils made an initial offer of €100 million, which was rejected by the Old Lady club. Their second bid of €120 million is also believed to have been rejected by the Italians, as they are determined to hold on to their midfield maestro.
With negotiations over Pogba’s transfer still on-going, Real Madrid would also like to step in to try and shake things up. The Galacticos failed in their recent pursuit of Andre Gomes, who instead opted for a move to Real’s rivals, Barcelona.
Zidane is now believed to be looking towards bringing the French midfielder to the Spanish capital. Reports from Spain also claim that Zidane called Pogba to try and convince him to wait for Madrid to sanction a transfer.
However, Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, is not willing to spend big money on the youngster – putting Manchester United in a good position to land their former midfielder.
Pogba initially preferred a switch to the Spanish capital, but the Galacticos were scared off by the price tag that Juventus placed on him.
Real Madrid are waiting to offload their Colombian star, James Rodriguez, before they can begin negotiations with Juventus. James is believed to be worth up to £75 million, with Manchester United, West Ham, and Chelsea all interested in his signature.
But, James made a statement earlier this month, confirming that he sees himself staying with the Champions League winners next season.
It is only a matter of time before this whole story unfolds, but for now, it looks like Pogba will be returning to his former club.
