Manchester United failed to take full advantage of their rivals slipping up on Tuesday, as they were held to a goalless draw by Hull at Old Trafford.

Here’s how Jose Mourinho’s men fared during the game:

DAVID DE GEA – 6

Was hardly tested.

ANTONIO VALENCIA – 6

One of United’s most frequent chance creators on the night, but failed to whip in any lethal crosses.

PHIL JONES – 7

Had a great game. Made some crucial tackles and interceptions until getting subbed off due to injury.

MARCOS ROJO – 7

Did his job at the back.

DALEY BLIND – 5

Wasn’t as effective offensively as Valencia. Showed why United desperately need Luke Shaw back full time.

MICHAEL CARRICK – 6

Distributed the ball well in the first half. Did not deserve to get subbed off during the break.

ANDER HERRERA – 6

Kept the ball moving, but could have done better with creating chances.

PAUL POGBA – 6

Could’ve given United an early lead had it not been for Jakupovic. Performed better in the second half, created chances.

HENRIKH MKHITARYAN – 5

Failed to carry his good form into this game. Got less and less effective as time went on, before eventually getting substituted on the hour mark.

MARCUS RASHFORD – 6

Tormented Hull defenders with his pace. Should’ve scored after brilliantly controlling Pogba’s long pass, but scuffed the ball instead.

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC – 4

Didn’t do much since flicking the ball onto Pogba early in the game.

SUBSTITUTES:

WAYNE ROONEY – 5

His mistake in midfield almost led to Hull taking the lead via Markovic, who ended up hitting the post.

CHRIS SMALLING – 5

Failed to block Markovic’s shot.

JUAN MATA – 5

Another crucial miss by the Spaniard.

Here’s how the visitors fared in the 0-0 draw at the Theatre of Dreams:

JAKUPOVIC – 9

Played one of the best games of his career. His crucial and fantastic saves earned his team a crucial point.

MEYLER – 5

Found it difficult to deal with Rashford and his pace.

DAWSON – 7

Remained solid on the ground as well as in the air.

MAGUIRE – 7

Did his defensive job, and built up play from the back.

ROBERTSON – 6

His crucial last-ditch tackle kept Mkhitaryan from giving United the lead.

HUDDLESTONE – 6

Played with intent, and created a crucial chance in the latter stages of the game.

CLUCAS – 6

Did the job in the middle of the park.

MARKOVIC – 6

Had the chance to pull off an enormous upset by scoring a late goal, but ended up hitting the post instead.

Subs:

GOEBEL – 5

Hardly made any impact.

TYMON – 6

Was a threat with his impressive runs.

NIASSE – 5

Fought for the ball. Picked up a yellow early in the game for a late tackle on Marcos Rojo.
