Manchester United and Jose Mourinho are set for yet another busy transfer window with the manager looking to add some star players to his squad in the off-season.
The Portuguese gaffer is linked with some of the biggest names in Europe as he looks to improve the all round quality of the squad.
And this might mean that he will have to let go of a few players at the end of the season.
A number of players in the squad at the Old Trafford are currently worried about their places next season but one player who is taking it slow is midfielder Michael Carrick.
One of the most experienced players in his position in the Premier League, Carrick, has add some much-needed balance to the squad this season but at 35, he may not be at the club for a long time.
The English midfielder signed a new one year contract at the start of the season along with the appointment of Jose Mourinho and he has played an important role in Manchester United moving to the 6th place in the points table.
His current contract is set to end at the end of the season and though Mourinho has previously spoken about his importance to the club, he is yet to offer him an extension.
And according to Paul Scholes, Manchester United should sign Carrick for at least another year.
Speaking in an interview with Republik of Mancunia, Scholes said: “I hope he’ll get another year.
“He’s been a sensational player for this club.
“He doesn’t always get the praise that he deserves really because of the job he does, but the job he does is appreciated so much by the players around him.”
At his age, Carrick is currently the most experienced player in the squad at the club and it is hard to see him move to a top class club in the summer.
So Manchester United are better off keeping him at the Old Trafford and should offer him a new contract , atleast to use his experience for the next season.
Do you think Mourinho should let Carrick leave in the summer?
