Everton Confident Of Landing Burnley Defender In £28m Transfer Deal

Ronald Koeman’s Everton are confident that they will land the former Manchester United defender Michael Keane for a fee of around £28 million – as per the reports from The Sun.

The 24-year-old defender has been a cornerstone for the Clarets this season and has been in demand due to his rock-solid defensive attributes. Furthermore, it was reported that Koeman was keen to bring Virgil van Dijk to Goodison Park, but with the clubs like Manchester City and Chelsea in the picture, this deal will be highly unlikely, hence, the Sun has reported that Keane will now be his top most priority.

With Keane getting a lot of accolades in recent times, it is firmly expected that Sean Dyche will certainly demand £20million-plus for the player. Keane, who scored the equalizer in their recent 1-1 draw against Hull City, will replace the ageing legs of Phil Jagielka.

The new arrival – Ashley Williams – and Ramiro Funes Mori have been the first choice centre-backs for Koeman this season, but it is well understood that he will be looking to bolster the defensive unit in the coming summer. Keane, on his part, will certainly be a good signing for the Toffees as they will finally get a like-for-like replacement of John Stones.

It was previously reported that Keane was a potential transfer target for both Chelsea and Manchester United, but speaking practically, Everton are the club who needs him the most.

They might struggle to beat the ‘Big Guns’, but it is fair to say that their growth has been quite evident since the departure of Roberto Martinez. They are four points clear of the 8th placed West Bromwich Albion and are behind Manchester United with the exact figure.

Furthermore, Daily Mirror has claimed that the former Southampton boss is also targeting Hull City’s Abel Hernandez for a £20 million move in the summer and the deal will take the Everton flop Oumar Niasse to the KCOM stadium on a permanent basis.
