The Reds are in a decent position to qualify for the Champions League next season and they will hope to keep the core of the squad at the club for the next season. But they might find it hard now that Spanish giants Barcelona are coming back yet again for star playmaker Philippe Coutinho for a move this summer.
Linked with a move to the Camp Nou in January, Coutinho signed a bumper contract that will keep him at Anfield till 2022 without a release clause and it is now understood that Barcelona are plotting their ways of landing him.
According to reports from Spanish newspaper Sport, Barcelona have now opened talks with Coutinho’s Brazil-based agent Giuliano Bertolucci to try to lure the player to the Camp Nou at the end of the season.
It is understood that Barca’s technical director – Robert Fernandez – is a big admirer of Coutinho and that he is desperate for his signature. And he is now hoping to strike a deal with the agent ahead of a potential move this summer.
It is also revealed that Coutinho’s agent has already visited the Camp Nou and that the Brazilian might be tempted to switch shirts this summer. Barcelona star Neymar Jr, who is best friends with the Liverpool playmaker has urged him recently to move to the Camp Nou and revealed that he would like to play alongside him.
So Barcelona are now ready to meet Liverpool’s valuation to partner him with former teammate Luis Suarez, making their squad stronger. Though he signed a new contract, Liverpool could be happy to sell at an insane price if Barcelona are ready to pay.
