The Red Devils have been one of the most consistent teams in the Premier League this season, but they have a few problems with the squad that need to be addressed this summer. The manager is looking to get in some world-class players to the club to try and improve the quality all around the squad.
Mourinho is on the lookout to improve most positions in the squad, and the backline is something he will concentrate on at the end of the season. And according to reports from the The Mirror, Manchester United are now confident of landing Brazil international Marquinhos from PSG this summer.
The 22-year-old defender has been a mainstay in the PSG backline this season, but is reportedly looking for a new challenge, and is open to a move to England. The report further claims that the Red Devils are growing increasingly confident that they will be able to land the defender in a £50m deal this summer.
United have the likes of Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling, and Phil Jones for this role in the current squad, but the English duo have not been able to impress the manager, and are likely to be replaced.
Mourinho has been looking at some of the biggest names in Europe to bring to Old Trafford this summer, but is now convinced that he will be able to lure the PSG star to the club at the end of the season.
At £50m, Marquinhos will become one of the costliest defenders ever, and is expected to walk straight into United’s starting lineup next season.
