Inter Milan’s new manager, Luciano Spalletti, has indicated that he might drop midfielder Ivan Perisic from his first team spot at the club.
The 28-year-old has been linked with United for quite some time now, and the new Inter boss is not a fan of his insecure future at the club.
According to Spalletti, the only way Inter can regain their faltering stature in Serie A is by making sure every single player understands and lives the Nerazzurri philosophy.
With constant transfer talk looming over the midfielder, and the prospect of a deal in place, the 58-year-old manager feels that Ivan Perisic is not bigger than the club.
Speaking to the Italian Media Outlet Inter-News.it, he said: “Let’s get one thing straight, for years the club has not won anything. Unless you do something different, you will continue to have these negative results.
“A player on his own does not lead a team to victory or trophies. There are top quality and good players, but they have to be part of the team philosophy,” the gaffer added, talking in context to Perisic.
“The team has to work, I want only players that are willing to give something to their team-mates. I don’t want to take away from anything they do, but they must give it their all to will allow us to become a strong team.”
According to several rumors, while both the player and Man United are excited and keen on completing the deal, the clubs haven’t been able to zone in on the transfer fee, with either team’s evaluation of the winger being €15 million apart from each other.
While Inter have set a basic starting point of €50 million for the Croatian international, they might have to settle for less. The club would also have to keep an eye on FIFA Financial Fair Play rules, which might force them to let Perisic go for cheaper.
