Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata is finding it difficult to break free from the Spanish Champions, after suffering a recent setback in his potential move to Chelsea. The Blues are set to be closing in on Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang instead, according to reports.

Chelsea were linked with Morata after their failed pursuit of Romelu Lukaku, who joined Manchester United from Everton. But now, it seems the Spaniard could find it difficult to find new pastures this summer.

The former Juventus striker was linked with a move to Old Trafford as well, but Real’s asking price stalled the deal, and Jose Mourinho was quick to act and find solace elsewhere.

With Chelsea desperate for a striker, Morata was deemed fit for a move to Stamford Bridge as a replacement for fellow Spanish international Diego Costa, who was asked to depart from the club by Antonio Conte. But it now seems like Chelsea have their sights set on another striker.

According to Marca (via Express), the reigning English Champions are hoping to secure the services of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as the Gabon international has expressed his desire to move away from Ruhr Valley.

The star player is currently training with the Dortmund team in the pre-season, with several clubs keeping an eye on the Bundesliga sensation.

According to Sky Sportsthe Premier League winners have been offered the opportunity to sign the forward, who scored 31 goals for BVB last season. Conte has been wanting a proven goal scorer all along, and it will be interesting to see if a deal is reached within the next few weeks.
