What’s the story?

The ongoing transfer saga of the current Chelsea midfielder, Nemanja Matic, seems to have taken yet another unexpected twist, as according to reports coming in from Corriere dello Sporthis destination could well be Italy in the weeks to come. Inter Milan have emerged as the club favourites to sign the Serbian, and could thus frustrate Mourinho and Manchester United, who have reportedly been keenly interested in him all summer.

Should the deal take place?

The Blues’ player seems desperate to get away from Stamford Bridge this window, and could settle for the next best offer that is presented in front of him. His passing, goalscoring abilities, and ball retention makes him a valuable asset in the centre of the park. Such qualities could help him excel in Serie A, and hence, a move there might make sense.

Possibility of it happening

Chelsea and Manchester United are not the best of friends at the moment, with the latter snatching Romelu Lukaku away, and hence, the arrival of Matic to Old Trafford seems highly unlikely. The possibility of him going to Inter is currently 8/10.

 2. Eric Dier To Manchester United

What’s the story?

After landing quality players in defensive and attacking positions, the Old Trafford faithful will be hoping to add a midfielder into the squad, and as per news mentioned in the Mirror, their prayers could well be answered. Jose Mourinho is assumed to be chasing Eric Dier this summer, and wants the management to dish out £60 million for the Englishman.

Should the deal take place?

The player has been heavily integral and influential in Tottenham’s rise in the past few seasons, and his services are exactly what Manchester United are desperate to attain to use in the centre of the park. However, Pochettino and his team are confident of keeping hold of their man, and given his role in the London club, moving to a place where he might have to fight for a spot does not spell out as a good plan.

Possibility of it happening

The chances of the player coming to Manchester United are currently as low as 3/10.

3. William Carvalho To West Bromwich Albion

What’s the story?

The Portuguese international has recently expressed his desire to be a part of the Premier League next season onwards, and has thus managed to attract the attention of Tony Pulis, as the boss seems keen to bring the player to West Brom. Birmingham Mail mentioned that the English club will not give up just yet, as they aim to bring their long-term target to the Hawthorns.

Should the deal take place?

Pulis had a £20m bid for Carvalho rejected by Sporting last season, and is hence, looking to take things up a higher notch and put in a £30m offer this time around. With the club looking to sell the midfielder, and another side so highly interested, a positive end to the deal should be an ideal conclusion. The player managed 2 goals and 4 assists in 43 appearances for the Portuguese club last season, and given his physicality and big presence, he could be ideal for a Tony Pulis side.

Possibility of it happening

The chances of him coming to England are currently placed at 7/10.

4. Virgil van Dijk To Arsenal

What’s the story?

After welcoming Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon, Arsenal fans could be looking forward to further good signings in the month to follow, as The Sun has come up with reports suggesting that Arsene Wenger is eyeing Virgil van Dijk for a move to the club in the summer. The player has been a rock for Southampton, and is one of the most wanted defenders in England at the moment.

Should the deal take place?

With Per Mertesacker set to retire in 2018 and Laurent Koscielny constantly battling injury concerns, Van Dijk could come in and form a formidable partnership with Mustafi at the Emirates.

Possibility of it happening

The possibility of the big centre-back making a move depends highly on the fees Arsenal offer, and given the absence of the Champions League, the chances of the deal coming through is currently balanced at 5/10. Chelsea, Liverpool and other big clubs are also part of this race.
