Ivan Perisic’s agent has asked the Inter Milan board to let the player join Manchester United, reports Sky Sports.

Although Manchester United have failed to reach an agreement for signing Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan thus far, the player is still very keen to join Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

The Croatian international has reported back to Inter Milan for pre-season, but he is trying to force a move away with the help of his agent nonetheless.

Persic’s agent has held talks with the hierarchy at the Serie A club, where he asked them to lower the price tag slapped on his client.

Jose Mourinho’s most recent bid is believed to be around £39 million, but the Italian giants are still holding out for a better offer. It is expected that a £45 million bid will be enough to persuade Inter to sell Perisic, who has 3 more years to run down on his current contract.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are hopeful of getting their man before Inter fly out to China next week for their pre-season tour.

Inter Milan’s new coach, Luciano Spalletti, is proving to be a major hurdle in Manchester United’s pursuit of Perisic. The Italian manager has urged his club’s board to reject any offers made for their coveted winger.

Spalletti affirmed his intention of keeping Perisic at the club in a recent press conference, where he said: “You keep talking about Perisic and his desire to leave but I need to listen to his own words first and then decide how to act. I hope to have him in the side, I am counting on it and I am positive in that sense.”
