Brazilian superstar Neymar’s former agent Wagner Ribeiro has made some interesting revelations about the forward. In an exclusive interview with Brazilian media outlet UOL Esporte, the agent stated that Premier League Champions Chelsea wanted to buy the player before he moved to Spanish giants Barcelona.
The agent also went on to claim that he wanted Neymar to move to European Champions Real Madrid instead of a move to Barca, as in his eyes, it made more financial sense for the young star to go there and earn more laurels.
“I wanted him to go to Real Madrid and I have always said that. It was a good proposal economically and the best for Santos. It was the best for the player too,” he was quoted as saying.
However, Ribeiro also claimed that the Brazilian skipper was never interested in offers from Chelsea or Real Madrid, and had his heart set at the Camp Nou instead. Ribeiro said that Barca was the team in the former Santos player’s heart.
“He decided to go to Barcelona because it was the team of his heart,” he added.
The Barca superstar has gone on to make a huge impression for the Catalans, and has won many trophies since joining. His partnership with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez upfront has been a very successful, and it is considered the most potent threat in attack in the world.
The Spanish club also has a huge transfer release clause in Neymar’s contract, as the forward gets set to impress in the upcoming season.
