Andre Gomes’ position at Barcelona has seemingly been in jeopardy, and Sport believes that the midfielder might be on his way to Juventus following a meeting between the two clubs’ officials.

The Old Lady has consistently been linked with the Portuguese playmaker throughout the transfer window, as they see him as a suitable option to bolster their midfield.

Barcelona, on the other hand, are interested to part ways with the midfielder following a string of inconsistent performances in his debut season. Gomes was one of the key men behind Portugal’s victory in Euro 2016, but the 24-year-old has failed to fulfill his potential at the Camp Nou.

Another major reason why the Blaugrana want to get rid of the midfielder is to generate enough money in order to lure Angel Di Maria from PSG. The Catalan giants see the Argentine as the perfect player to play alongside Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and their new signing, Ousmane Dembele.

However, there is apparently only one thing that has hindered Gomes’ move to the Allianz Stadium, and that is money.

Juventus are reportedly willing to pay as much as £30m, but Barcelona are demanding a hefty £50m for the playmaker. Should the meeting between the two clubs’ representatives come to fruition, we could see Andre Gomes donning Juventus’ jersey very soon.

This particular move makes sense for all the involved parties, as Barcelona will get the much-needed cash which they can invest in acquiring Di Maria’s services, and Gomes might be able to fulfill his potential at a Juventus team that relies heavily on its midfielders to dictate games.

It sure is a win-win situation for both the parties, and we may soon see Gomes plying his trade in Turin.
