Transfer deadline day is racing to a finish, and clubs are rampant, running helter-skelter to wrap up their signings. Generally, at this stage, late offers are common, but their acceptance is very rare. Despite this, Manchester United might just be able to land a late deal.
Now, Daily Star (via Transfermarketweb) report that Julian Draxler is on the radar of the English giants, and may move from PSG after Bayern Munich decided to withdraw from their pursuit of the winger.
Bayern Munich President Uli Hoeness confirmed the fallout, remarking: “Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and I have recently been together, and talked about how much of a mixture of class players we already have in this squad.
“If we were going to take a transfer like Draxler, the next question would be the same as in the case of James’ commitment: What about Thomas Muller?”
The 23-year old has time and time again proven his attacking prowess on the pitch, and is definitely a player who can deliver the quality which is requisite for Champions League football.
This opens a golden opportunity for Jose Mourinho to secure an attacking winger he has been desperate to capture for the majority of the summer, having failed to land the likes of Perisic and Bale.
Furthermore, their Premier League rivals Arsenal are also believed to be in the race to sign the player. Elsewhere in Europe, Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund are also keen on prying the German away from the Parc de Princes.
While all of these are undeniably tempting destinations for the former Wolfsburg player, the fact that his current contract with PSG is till 2021 will mean that any offer for him will have to be an immensely sizeable one to secure a move this late.
When the dust and frenzy of deadline day settles, it shall be interesting to see what will be the color of the jersey that Draxler sports for his next performance.
