There is a real sense of happiness at Old Trafford this season, as Manchester United have got off to a splendid start, and the players appear to be successfully standing up to manager Jose Mourinho’s demands.
After a satisfying summer transfer window, where Jose roped in three vital players, United look like a side gelling fabulously, with the manager rotating his players well.
Two players, who have particularly started off the campaign superbly, are Marcus Rashford and Marouane Fellaini, and according to The Independent, Jose is keen to hand the duo new contracts to tie them down at the club. The management is reportedly hoping to hand the duo new deals before the winter transfer window begins in January.
The Portuguese manager has been vocal about his trust on Fellaini, having stated earlier that the Belgian is a very important player for him. The midfielder has a contract with United until next summer, and given his vitality in the side, Jose views him as someone who could offer the team more dynamism for several more years.
Meanwhile, Rashford too, will be handed a lengthy contract. The youngster signed an extension last season till 2020, but Jose wants him to commit his future for a further few years.
Besides Fellaini and Rashford, the Red Devils are also said to be hoping to offer new contracts to Spanish players Ander Herrera and David de Gea. The Europa League champions do not want to delay holding onto their star players and having them focused on the job.
Herrera was United’s player of the year last term, but is currently finding it difficult to start matches, with Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba being Mourinho’s preferred pairing. Even with an injury to Pogba, Jose has switched his attention towards Fellaini. But that hasn’t hindered Herrera, who recently claimed that he remains focused and happy.
