Real Madrid are set to launch yet another bidding campaign to try and sign David de Gea, according to reports.
The Spanish giants have been on the United keeper’s tail for years now, having failed with several attempts to lure him away from Old Trafford in the past.
However, their failures have only spurred them on to keep trying, and they are set to make another bid in the summer.
Spain’s no.1 keeper has entered the final 12 months of his contract with the Old Trafford outfit, which expires in 2019, and he does not appear keen on renewing with the club.
Reports have suggested that De Gea has always maintained a desire to return to his hometown, and he now seems destined to make that dream a reality.
Keylor Navas has been a magnificent servant for the reigning Champions League and La Liga winners, but United’s keeper is unquestionably better, and a move for him is likely to send the Costa Rican out the door.
The Spaniard is now 27, and has only been getting better and better as time has passed. He has conceded only one goal at home so far this season, and has the highest number of clean sheets (8) in the Premier League.
If the move doesn’t materialize once more, Real may opt to go for Athletic Bilbao’s 23-year-old keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who will be a free agent in June, according to reports in Spanish newspaper Marca.
