Manchester United are a stubborn side when it comes to transfer sagas, and Jose Mourinho is not one to quit easily either.

Their summer window primarily consisted of letdowns, as the Red Devils saw transfer after transfer collapse due to one reason or another, the most prominent being those of Antoine Griezmann and Ivan Perisic.

However, this pursuit is one that will look to be continued going into the winter window, and one of these players, in particular, could very likely become a Red Devil in the new year.

Perisic was heavily pursued by Jose Mourinho owing to his prowess as an attacker, and this season has proven no different, with the Croatian in splendid form for Inter Milan.

According to The Sun, the Portuguese tactician will look to continue his pursuit in January, and the player’s renewed contract of five years won’t be a hindrance.

In fact, it is likely that the Italian side slapped the deal onto the player solely to raise the asking price even further should United come knocking again.

At £45 million, the 28-year-old ought to be an easy purchase for the Mancunian side, and it is unlikely that the former Inter Milan boss will ape his mistake from back in the summer, when he chose to wait out on a cheaper deal.

But the bigger challenge will be to trump the offers that will most certainly arrive from elsewhere as well to secure his services. If that proves to be the case, then a simple activation of the release clause alone won’t suffice for Mourinho to gain the player he desires the most.

Regardless, this is one saga that will be interesting to follow going into the window just due to the sheer build-up that its summer alternative caused.
