David De Gea to Real Madrid is a saga that most Man Utd supporters would have been hoping to put behind for good.

The transfer nearly occurred back in 2015, before an infamous faulty fax-machine incident put the stop on the move.

Since then, talks of the Spaniard moving to the La Liga giants have been an on and off affair, with most speculation being put to bed in recent months.

However, a decision on part of Jose Mourinho might change the mind of the shot-stopper over his future destination.

At least that’s what the M.E.N Sports appears to believe, with the outlet claiming that De Gea could have issues should Mourinho deploy Romero as the goalkeeper throughout the FA Cup campaign.

This is believed to be a backlash from last season’s Europa League triumph, where the Argentine goalkeeper featured throughout, even in the final against Ajax, which later turned out to be the saving grace of the Red Devils’ campaign.

As of such, the 27-year-old, who is widely hailed as one of the best in the world, might be gutted on missing out on silverware, and should Romero be given the spot again this season, that’s potentially two shots at glory that the Spaniard has had no chance at contributing to.

However, it does seem like an odd thing to be mad about. Romero is believed by many to be the finest second-choice keeper that any club can boast of, and as of such, not giving him a chance to play throughout the season is certainly outright laughable.

The Spaniard’s most advanced stint in the UEFA Champions League was when Bayern Munich ousted the Mancunian giants in the quarterfinals during David Moyes’ forgettable year in charge.

In view of this possibility, Real Madrid might be heavily interested in swooping in and taking advantage of the situation, and they certainly do have the silverware to attract De Gea to La Liga.
