The Alexis Sanchez transfer saga seems to be revolving around Henrikh Mkhitaryan, after United sneaked under City’s noses to try and hijack the Arsenal star.
A deal which was initially believed to be a cash-plus-player deal is now mooted to be a straight swap between United and Arsenal, with Mkhitaryan being the key factor.
The 28-year-old’s agent, Mino Raiola, made it absolutely clear that Sanchez’s transfer to Old Trafford completely depended on whether the Armenian international made his switch to the London giants.

While talking to The Times, Raiola said: “United is not going to sign Sánchez unless Micki agrees to join Arsenal. Micki has not decided yet. Micki is going to do what is best for him. He has two-and-a-half years left on his contract, so it’s his decision.”
However, the ace playmaker’s comments about the Gunners, which date back to May 2009, suggest that the former Borussia Dortmund man is already an Arsenal fan, and ‘pay raise’ is the major issue that has been acting as an obstacle in his path to the Emirates.
“My favourite team is Arsenal,” he had revealed. “I like their attacking play and fast style. Moreover, Arsène Wenger puts faith in young players while demanding results at the same time. I like that and want to play there one day.”
The out-of-favour United star is currently on a £150,000-a-week contract at Old Trafford, and wants an increase, which Arsenal are unwilling to offer. Furthermore, his agent is demanding a massive commission, which could reportedly exceed £5 million.
