Manchester United are considering a move for Arturo Vidal in the summer, according to reports in Chile.

The Bayern Munich midfielder has just a year left to run on his contract with the Bavarian giants, and a move away from the club is starting to look increasingly likely.

Despite the circumstances, if reports are to be believed, United are not going to hold back in the bidding war, and are set to offer a large sum of money for him.

According to Chilean news outlet La Cuarta, Vidal’s agent, Fernando Felicevich, is in Manchester, and is set to discuss a potential move with United officials this week.

The report also goes on to claim that the English giants are ready to offer him a four-year deal worth €14.4 million per season (£240,000-a-week), while they are ready to pay Bayern £42 million to sign him.

That is no small amount for a 31-year-old, who they could potentially sign on a free transfer next summer.

That offer could potentially blow the competition out of the water, but Chelsea and AC Milan are ready to take on United in the race for his signature, according to TuttoSport.

Antonio Conte has been keeping an eye on Vidal for a while now, and spoke highly of him during the winter window. He wasn’t supported by the Chelsea board in his pursuit of the Chilean though, so the move never materialized.

AC Milan are also eager to sign him, in order to bring some experience and strength in their midfield.

United are looking to replace the retiring Michael Carrick and potentially Marouane Fellaini, and have been linked with a number of midfield stars ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Vidal has been a target for the club for years, and could still move to Old Trafford to see out the final years of his career at the highest level of the game.
