It looks like the David De Gea to Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo to United story is going to continue for a long time.

The transfer speculation surrounding the two has been a familiar tale over recent seasons.

De Gea has been a hero at United, being their best player over the years. The Spaniard has stated that he is happy at Old Trafford, and is enjoying life under Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese tactician also stated recently that in the future, even when he is not at the club anymore, people will still find De Gea at United, alongside the likes of Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku.

But despite all these claims, Spanish outlet Don Balon has stated that United are open to offload De Gea if they get the opportunity to re-sign Cristiano.

The Portuguese superstar, like every year’s transfer window, is once again linked with a move to his former club. And this time, Jose wants him at Old Trafford, as a move for Antoine Griezmann looks unlikely.

So in turn, the Red Devils are reportedly considering offering De Gea in a swap deal that will include a further £35m for Ronaldo in return.

If this move materialises, it would be the biggest blockbuster transfer in recent years, with both players being world class entities.

De Gea has been at United since 2011, but since his proposed switch to Madrid collapsed in 2015 due to paperwork issues, the Spaniard is still said to be their number one priority.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo is once again in sublime form this term, and has scored 34 goals and bagged 7 assists across all competitions this season.
