Real Madrid obliterated a heart-broken Juventus side in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals to seal a comfortable 3-0 victory at the home of the Italian Champions.
A Cristiano Ronaldo masterclass, in combination with an absolutely lethal front-line, showcased as to why Los Blancos are the reigning European champions.
But with that being said, there was one man in particular who was left devastated with the result, and it was none other than the legendary Gianluigi Buffon.
The Juve captain, who’s likely to hang up his boots at the end of the campaign, almost burst into tears when the final whistle blew, as his ‘dream’ to add a Champions League trophy to his illustrious career virtually shattered.

Buffon couldn’t stop the ‘high-flying’ La Liga juggernauts in their tracks, as Madrid’s superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, rose to the occasion and delivered a world-class performance.
The 33-year-old’s incredible bicycle kick in the 64th minute left the Italian shot-stopper in disarray, as Real clinched the clash and potentially a spot in the semi-finals.
However, Gigi, despite of everything, showcased why fans across the globe love and respect him, as at full-time, his display of immense sportsmanship brought a tear or two in every fan’s eyes.
According to Marca, the veteran goalkeeper applauded all four corners of the Juventus Stadium and gave hugs to his teammates and opponents on the pitch, and then turned his attention towards the star of the show.
Buffon went to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner and congratulated him on his goals, and then swapped shirts with him.
The shot-stopper also spoke about the Real Madrid talisman after the final whistle, as he stated: “Ronaldo is a player of an incredible level, Cristiano’s value is comparable to Maradona, Messi or Pele, we feel a great pain, probably we will not be able to pass the round and it’s a pity.
“But it’s true that rivals you have to be calm and give them congratulations because objectively they are stronger. We have seen the usual Cristiano [Ronaldo], a player of an extraordinary level, who invents, evolves and does not seem to have an end. My dream of the Champions League is not possible because the best prevents it.”
