Paul Pogba certainly has had his critics this season, and several news outlets took it upon themselves to create fake stories about why his form had dipped so badly.
Even Pep Guardiola got in on the act before the game, apparently claiming Pogba’s agent had offered him to Manchester City in the January transfer window.
However, when Manchester United needed a hero, Pogba finally showed up and at the perfect time for not just the club, but for himself as well.
With all the cynicism being directed his way, it looked set to get even worse after the Frenchman’s miserable performance in the first half that saw his side go 2-0 down.

A man dubbed as a flat-track bully who never shows up against the big clubs though, proved exactly why that title could not be further from the truth.
The midfielder put up a magnificent display of resilience and fighting spirit, and dragged his team back from the depths of despair to being on level terms once more.
Just before the game had taken place, Pogba posted an image on twitter of him cupping his ears as if he were bemused by Guardiola’s claim that he could have signed for City in the summer.
After the game, Pogba once again made the most of his opportunity, and ran over to the fans immediately following the final whistle. With a series of actions, he clarified the situation and ensured the fans that all those quotes were nothing but lies.
