Manchester United has been a club that has had much to thank its youngsters for over the years. The arrival of Jose Mourinho had signaled that perhaps this trend of youth talent being built-up might come to an end.

But that has not happened, and the sight of youngsters Rashford and Martial being used extensively throughout the season is proof of just that.

However, they were in many ways developed already, and the bigger test for his youth-reliance lay in him utilizing fresh faces. And precisely that was done in the form of Scott McTominay.

The 21-year-old proved impressive in their pre-season tour, and over the course of the season, was able to sneak in quite an instrumental role, so much so that his final tally of appearances stood at 23 in all competitions.
