Spurs are set to demand Anthony Martial in exchange for the services of Toby Alderweireld.
Manchester United have already let their interest in signing the Belgian centre-back known to the London outfit, but Spurs being the hard bargainers that they are, do not intend to let their defender join a direct rival without a fight.
Despite the fact that Tottenham are eager to offload Alderweireld in the current window to prevent him from leaving for a mere £22 million next summer, they have nevertheless slapped a massive £70m-plus price tag on the Red Devils’ target.
And as if their financial demands weren’t outrageous enough, they have now upped the ante spectacularly, if the latest report from The Sun is to be believed.

The English outlet has revealed that Tottenham are planning to demand United’s out-of-favour forward Anthony Martial in exchange for their 29-year-old player.
The Frenchman has undoubtedly endured a difficult season at Old Trafford, particularly since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez. He has fallen down the pecking order, with regular game-time in his preferred position hard to come by.
Moreover, while Jose Mourinho continues to consider the youngster a part of his plans, the Portuguese tactician wouldn’t stand in the way of the ex-Monaco man if he expressed an outright desire to leave the club.
Spurs look set to take advantage of this fact, and with Mauricio Pochettino being a huge fan of the starlet, the Argentinian intends to sign the player up, and revive Martial’s career as a Lilywhite.
Will Jose Mourinho and co. accept these demands? Or will they give up their pursuit of Alderweireld and search for alternative reinforcements? Only time shall tell.
