Fabio Capello has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo wishes to secure a dream return to Manchester United.

The ex-Real Madrid boss spoke to Sky Sport 24 about Zinedine Zidane’s farewell as well as Ronaldo’s future with the club in what was quite a revealing interview.

Speaking about the French tactician first, Capello opined: “This was Zidane’s choice and I think it was the right one.

“He knew that Florentino would’ve sacked him if it wasn’t for that third straight UCL win. It was a matter of time. I was sacked from Real Madrid after a successful season. I think Zizou made the right call.”

He then went on to talk about the Portuguese superstar, by stating: “Ronaldo’s future with Real Madrid? Cristiano wants to return to Manchester United alongside Mourinho. I think he will eventually leave Madrid to go back to England. When? This I don’t know.”

The Italian also had his say as to who might replace Zidane at the Galacticos’ helm: “Zidane’s replacement? I think it could be Guti. There is only one top coach available and that’s Conte. Sarri too is free but for how long?”

Capello also spoke at length about his opinion on the roster situation for the rest of Real Madrid‘s stars. He put particular emphasis on Benzema’s proximity to club president Florentino Perez, and why that means he is likely to be a part of Madrid’s future plans:

“If Ronaldo leaves Madrid, Real will have to replace him. Lewandowski could be an option. Benzema’s future? He is on Florentino’s good list. He got rid of Higuain to keep the Frenchman. I don’t think he will sell him. Let’s not forget, it’s Florentino who makes the calls.”

Ronaldo has thrown shade onto his future at Real Madrid in his post-match interview following the Merengues’ historic third Champions League title in a row.

A number of top clubs around the world would line up for the defending Ballon D’Or winner should he reach a breakdown in talks with Real over a brand new contract.
