Italy midfielder Marco Verratti has joined the list of midfielders being targeted by Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho.
Reports claim that the player is being touted to line up with the Reds’ other potential signing, Fred.
It has been understood that Jose wants Verratti to be the marquee signing this summer and bolster the midfield. United could field the likes of Nemanja Matic, Fred, and Verratti in a new look side.
According to a report in the Mirror, Mourinho has made the 25-year-old his top target, but will have to shell out a mammoth club record fee to get him.

A fee in the region of £100 million could be needed to prize the talented player away from French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
The talented player has been at PSG for six seasons, and has amassed 239 matches with the club, scoring eight goals in return.
The interest in Verratti has come back once again, as Jose fears the potential loss of Marouane Fellaini, who is close to leaving United. The Belgian’s future is under doubt as there hasn’t been any agreement over a new deal.
The Mancunian giants are set to replace Michael Carrick with Fred, and if Fellaini departs, they shall need another midfielder to come in.
Besides Verratti, the the Red Devils are also interested in Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. But like the PSG star, Savic too, will come at a huge price.
