Anthony Martial To Begin Transfer Talks With Premier League Club This Week

Anthony Martial celebrates scoring.

Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their pursuit of Manchester United‘s Anthony Martial by scheduling talks this week.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side, which ended yet another season without a trophy, will now be desperate to change things at Wembley before the start of next season.

The manager has usually trusted relative unknowns to give his side a lift in the Premier League, but it now looks like Pochettino is finally ready to spend big on established stars this summer.

And one such player extensively linked with a move to the club is Manchester United outcast Anthony Martial.

The Frenchman, who joined the Red Devils in a deal that could end up costing them close to £58m, hit the ground running in his first season at Old Trafford. However, he was not able to replicate that form, and lost his place in the starting lineup under Mourinho.

The youngster was overlooked for most of the crunch games last season, and eventually lost his place in the French national side that will travel to Russia for the World Cup.

So it does not come as a surprise that Martial is ready to depart from Old Trafford this summer, and it is understood that Tottenham Hotspur are the frontrunners for his signature.

Reports from Daily Mail claim that United are open to selling the youngster, but are desperate to recoup most of what they spent on his signature not so long ago.

But it is understood that Tottenham Hotspur and Daniel Levy are ready to negotiate a price for the player, and have scheduled talks in the coming days.

The fact that the 22-year old will not travel to Russia is expected to make things smoother in this deal, but it remains to be seen if Manchester United are ready to let him leave at a lower price.

It is understood that Pochettino might be given up to £100m to spend on his transfer targets this summer. But will Martial be worth spending half of that on?
