Jose Mourinho’s transfer plans may be different from what most Manchester United supporters will be hoping for.
The Portuguese gaffer has been successful in bringing in Fred and Diogo Dalot so far this window, and was expected to follow suit for the rest of the regions wherein the Red Devils badly required reinforcements.
Chief amongst this is the spot of left-back, where the club has been having problems for several seasons now, particularly due to the inconsistency of Luke Shaw. While Ashley Young has proven to be the saving grace, his age has posed big questions.
It now appears that a left-back will not be arriving at Old Trafford this window.

As per the Independent, Mourinho has chosen to not invest in a left-back this transfer window, and will instead choose to continue playing Luke Shaw and Young in the spot.
If true, this is an interesting choice, as Shaw’s relations with the manager have been a mixed bag if there ever was one, and numerous sources believed that the youngster would, in fact, be on his way out this summer.
It is also quite possible that this action is a result of United being unable to land Alex Sandro, who had been linked quite extensively as the club’s next signing.
The source further adds that Mourinho’s sole intent instead, will be to acquire the services of a direct replacement for Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian powerhouse was the source of most of United’s goals last season, but the likes of Sanchez and Rashford have simply been unable to ape his antics when injured.
As a result, West Ham’s Marko Arnautovic and Juventus’ Mario Mandzukic are the options that the club has been reportedly looking to bring in this summer.
These players are supposedly targeted with an intention to bring in a striker who has similar ability and physical attributes as Lukaku.
