Zlatan Ibrahimovic caused a stir in April when on Jimmy Kimmel Live, he announced that he’d be heading to the World Cup in Russia.

People speculated as to whether this signalled an intent to don Sweden colours, or whether he’d just go there as a tourist. Sweden’s World Cup squad announcement doused hopes of any international comeback for the striker.

In a recent interview with FIFA.com, Zlatan revealed the names of the players he thinks will play the best in Russia. According to him, France are favourites to go the whole 9 yards to World Cup glory.

He was quoted as saying: “I think Pogba for sure, who everyone knows is fast and skillful. Mbappe, an upcoming star who still has more to give to get to the top, but he will for sure arrive there.

There are so many players who are exciting at the moment that, for sure, some other star that nobody has been talking about will dominate.”

Mbappe suffered an injury scare during France’s World Cup preparation camp yesterday. There was talk of the forward possibly being unable to participate in the tournament. He got injured by a tackle from Adil Rami in training.

The veteran center-back allayed those fears today via an Instagram story today. The text on his story says “All is well for my Kylian.”

The video contained footage of the two players relaxing while undergoing physiotherapy. Mbappe himself confirmed that the knock was nothing serious via a Tweet today.

The 19-year-old earned a groundbreaking move to Paris St. Germain from AS Monaco worth €200 million. Real Madrid and Arsenal were reportedly interested in adding him to their squads, but balked at the Principality club’s transfer fee demand.

Pogba went through a lean season with Manchester United. This leaves him in prime position to silence critics with a wonderful display in the weeks to come.
