It has been speculated for a while that former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri is next in line as for the Chelsea job. Sarri was axed by Napoli last month, and former Real Madrid and Bayern gaffer Carlo Ancelotti has since replaced him at the helm.

Antonio Conte has long had a question mark over his future following Chelsea‘s middling performance over the season gone by.

They managed to win the FA Cup, but scuppered their defense of the Premier League. Finishing 5th meant an exit from the Champions League for a season – for the first time in 6 years.

Sarri is said to be in favour of a mass summer clearout, which could reportedly include the likes of David Luiz, Alvaro Morata, and Danny Drinkwater. Other players like Willian and Zappacosta could also be on the move.

Willian, in particular, has been a Jose Mourinho favourite in the past. He has been linked with a Manchester United move in the wake of Anthony Martial’s impending departure.

Zappacosta is reportedly being eyed by Internazionale. The 26-year-old right-back could definitely be on the move given that his asking price is not astronomically high. A transfer to his homeland might just bring him back to his best.

Danny Drinkwater has been a fringe player thus far. The former Leicester medio has been restricted to 22 appearances this past season. This was despite Nemanja Matic’s departure in the summer.

David Luiz was beset with a whole host of injuries last season. His presence was sorely missed by the Blues, as they floundered on their defense of the Premier League, while getting knocked out by Barcelona in the Champions League due to defensive errors.

Luiz, aged 30 and set to turn 31 later this year, still has time left at the top. He could still end up as a solid defender, but perhaps elsewhere.
