The report adds that the 25-year-old central midfielder was told to lose weight and work on his fitness levels in order to carve a regular spot in the Qatari-backed side. This is a typical requirement that the gaffer has always been serious about.

Needless to say, this hasn’t gone down well with Verratti, and has led Raiola to go hunting for a new destination. At the moment, United are the side most likely to make the purchase, and the agent’s good rapport with the Red Devils will certainly aid the prospect.

However, it was also mentioned that Barcelona, Juventus, and Real Madrid refused to make a swoop, citing an inability to make a bid as the reason.
