As per Portuguese outlet UOL Esporte, Italian champions Juventus have tabled an offer for highly-rated Porto defender Alex Telles.
The news of Juventus making bid for another left-back is bound to put both PSG and Man Utd on alert, as the European duo are interested in signing current Juventus left-back Alex Sandro.
The Italian giants need to sell in order to cover the cost of signing 7 players in this transfer window, viz. Ronaldo, Douglas Costa, Mattia Perin, Emre Can, Andrea Favilli, Joao Cancelo, and Giangiacomo Magnani.
Telles, a 25-year-old Brazilian left-back, made the move to Europe from Gremio in 2014. He signed with Turkish giants Galatasaray amid weighty expectations.
However, a promising debut campaign with Gala was followed by an underwhelming loan stint with Serie A giants Inter Milan in 2015. This led to suggestions that Telles may not be capable of cutting it at the top level of European football.
Inter subsequently declined their option to make the South American’s move to the San Siro permanent in the summer of 2016, allowing Porto to secure a €6.5 million swoop for Telles.
The 5’11” player appeared in 42 games for Porto in the 2017-18 campaign. He compiled 4 goals and 14 assists, whilst staying out of trouble by only picking up 2 yellow cards – despite playing as a defender.
He seems to have rejuvenated his career by playing in the less challenging environment of the Portuguese Primeira Liga. Now aged 25, he is set to enter the prime of his career, and would be well-served by a move to the Serie A.
