Arturo Vidal has been left out of Bayern Munich squad for their pre-season tour of the United States. He is expected to switch clubs before the summer transfer window closes.
According to FcInterNews, Manchester United have made an ‘official approach’ for the Chile international’s signature.
Vidal is reportedly not keen on the switch to Old Trafford, however, despite this being a chance to link up with his fellow compatriot Alexis Sanchez.
Three new players have already been added to United’s squad this summer, and Mourinho wants at least two more arrivals before the start of the new Premier League season.

The Red Devils kick off their Premier League campaign against Leicester City on August 10. The 2018/19 season sees a shift in the traditional generic summer transfer window. In place of the last day of August, the transfer window for the PL is set to close on the 9th of August this summer.
Other major European football leagues continue to follow the old deadline of 31st August. This makes Inter Milan, the other club in contention for the Chilean’s signature, the favourites in a prospective bidding war.
The 31-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his contract. Bayern have a wealth of talent in their midfield positions, which is why Vidal, now in his 30s, has been deemed surplus to requirements.
The midfielder moved from Juventus to Bayern Munich in 2015. The lung-busting player began his European career in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen in 2007; the switch to Turin happened in the summer of 2011.
Vidal has championship pedigree, having won a league title in each of his last 7 domestic campaigns. His arrival would surely bolster United’s midfield significantly.
