Mexican World Cup star Andrés Guardado’s son has hit Internet stardom worldwide. A clip of him meeting his idol, Lionel Messi, has already garnered about 1.5 million views, and is slated to go up to a much higher count.
His mother, Sandra, had originally posted the aforementioned clip to her Instagram page. It gained nearly 15,000 likes and 50,000 views in 15 hours, before exposure to Twitter took the video to its current viral status.
Betis played out a goalless first half in Seville before Barcelona turned it on after half-time, and a goal from Rakitić, along with a brace from Messi and Suárez settled the affair.
Following a second half 5-0 thumping from Barcelona, the Real Betis midfielder was seen carrying his son along the dressing room corridor of the Benito Villamarín stadium to meet the Argentinian legend.
Messi seemed to be more than happy to pose for the snap, as Máximo grinned throughout. The interaction ended with Messi giving him an affectionate, endearing high-five that the kid is likely to remember for the rest of his life.
Messi has always been kind and generous to his fans. He has gone out of his way to greet and meet with them on several occasions. A pitch invader was once saved from further court punishment after Messi spoke up in favour of the defendant.
Andres Guardado has been a mainstay for the Betis side ever since he joined them last summer.
The winger once famously said the following about Lionel Messi: “Messi is a benchmark in world football, for me he is the best in history and it will be a pride to tell my grandchildren that I lived in the time of Leo Messi.
“One of the best things football has given me, how could it be that I have 20 photos with Messi and I do not have the ball in any of them.”
