Juventus won their 2nd Serie A encounter by a 2-0 margin to keep their position at the top of the table. Cristiano Ronaldo made his home debut for the seven-time successive champions, as they beat Lazio.
It was Miralem Pjanic’s delightful finish from 25 yards which put Juventus ahead, before Mario Mandzukic struck from close range after half-time.
Ronaldo, who joined from Real Madrid in the summer, failed to scored for the 2nd league game in a row.
This time, he somehow missed a sitter, but Mandzukic slotted home from the rebound to save Ronaldo and his side the blushes. Prior to his miss, Ronaldo had seen a shot tipped over by opposite goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha.
Ronaldo missed inside the six-yard box, after Joao Cancelo’s low cross hit his heel, which then took a rebound and fell towards Mandzukic. Many would have thought Ronaldo’s reaction would be a frustrating one after failing to convert a chance, but it was completely different.
The Portuguese celebrated Mandzukic’s goal with a smile, and then went on to hug the Croatian. This, in turn, saw fans on social media have a divided view on Ronaldo’s reaction.

Messi is the greatest playmaker in the world, he is always looking to set his teammates up. Ronaldo gets angry when his teammates score and he doesn't. Why people think Ronaldo is the better leader is beyond me.

Don’t see nothing wrong with ronaldo throwing his hands up… clearly a reaction at him missing rather than mandzukic scoring

Some felt it was just a petty reaction, while others rallied behind the player to acknowledge his smile to himself. Meanwhile, Juventus maintain their 100% league record, finding themselves in the numero uno position on the table.
