Former Manchester United manager David Moyes has come out in support of Jose Mourinho, and believes that the Portuguese is the right man to turn things around at Old Trafford.

Mourinho is facing intense pressure in his third season at United after getting off to a horrible start.

United lie 8th after 8 matches in the league, are also out of the Carabao Cup, and recently managed a drab 0-0 draw against Valencia at home in the Champions League.

Last weekend, Mourinho and his side was in trouble after going 0-2 down against Newcastle, but they changed their fortunes in the last 20 minutes to seal a 3-2 win.

And David Moyes now believes that the stunning comeback could prove to be the turning point for the former Chelsea boss.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Moyes stated: “The big thing is that Jose has got himself a fantastic result at the weekend. It doesn’t matter how you win but he did it in good style, beating Newcastle.

“I think that could settle things down a little bit. It takes time for all managers at Manchester United. Jose has been given time and I’m sure given more time – he’s a winner and I’m sure he will go on to prove that.”

United travel away to Chelsea post the international break, and then take on Juventus in the Champions League.
