Manchester United looked like a sinking ship during the early parts of this season. The Red Devils suffered embarrassing defeats at the hands of Brighton and West Ham, and were also knocked out of the League Cup at the hands of Frank Lampard’s Derby County.

But things have turned around after Paul Pogba’s resurgence in the midfield. Jose Mourinho had publicly criticized the Frenchman for his poor performances, and all hell broke loose when the midfielder uploaded a post on Instagram after the Derby County defeat.

In September, the duo was involved in a training ground bust-up after the League Cup fixture, as the United gaffer didn’t approve of the Instagram story posted by his record signing.

Pogba was stripped of the vice-captaincy later that month, and reports emerged that the player was embarrassed to play under Mourinho, and will be pushing for a move elsewhere.

But now, in an interview with RaiSport, the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, has revealed that things have changed since then, with Pogba and Mourinho putting the past behind them and working together to turn around Manchester United‘s season.

“He has patched up his rapport with Jose Mourinho and is calmer now,” the super-agent told Rai Sport. “He feels important to Manchester United, even if Turin and Juventus remain in his heart.”

The United gaffer seems to have found the magic formula at Old Trafford. Defence is still a huge problem, and winter reinforcements look set to arrive once the January window reopens.

But the team has been responding well in recent weeks, with Pogba playing a key part in the midfield. Barring his mistake against Everton, the France international has shown composure and a sense of leadership to rally the troops from the middle of the park.
