VIDEO: The Match That Made Manchester United Sign Anthony Martial

It was in 2015 when former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal went on to sign the then 19-year-old starlet Anthony Martial from French side Monaco.

With Martial’s deal back then, United had broken the world record for the highest transfer fee paid for a teenager.

The forward had a great first campaign under LVG, and also won the FA Cup that season. United his successor, Jose Mourinho, Martial experienced two mixed seasons filled with inconsistency.

He was often dropped to the bench, as other star players got more chances ahead of him to showcase their attributes. The following summer was difficult, with speculations on the rise that Martial was unhappy at the club. His agent also confirmed that he was reconsidering his future at Old Trafford.

But things changed drastically as the 2018-19 season progressed. Martial found himself in a rich vein of form, and has managed to score six goals in his last five Premier League games, which includes a brace against Chelsea in October.

United are finally witnessing his best, and a video has surfaced on Youtube showing why the club signed him up in the first place in 2015. The player that had enormous talent and potential is finally showing his worth.

The video highlights what made United break the bank for Martial. The Mancunians were monitoring his growth for a while, until Van Gaal finally decided to bring him to England, knowing his versatility and promise.

It was in the UEFA Champions League match against Arsenal at the Emirates where Martial thrived with a superb display. His willingness to move forward and vision won United’s hearts. The big moment was when he assisted the goal that helped Monaco win 3-1.
