Manchester United are tottering on the brink of crisis. Much of United’s woes have arrived through their defensive flaws- the club has scored only 2 goals more than they have conceded in the League this season, a feat that is shared by some very low-placed teams.
It is clear that the club will be in the market for a staunch centre-back in the winter.
One name that has repeatedly stuck with this requirement is that of Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld. The Belgian defender could be available for as little as £25.4 million, given the short period left on his contract.
As of such, he remains one of the players that Red Devils are hopeful of purchasing and his recent Twitter activity will inject further hope into the saga.
The 29-year-old centre-back dropped a massive hint by liking the tweet of a Manchester United fan who listed the Spurs player as one of the signings that the Red Devils ought to make.
This is quite an interesting move by the player, who enjoys strong support from the United base.
However, his age may be a sticking point for certain supporters, for Old Trafford already has a decent amount of aging players who pocket outrageous weekly wages in exchange for performances that aren’t always convincing.
In addition to Alderweireld, it seems likely that the Mancunian giants will also keep their radar open to other similar prospects who can ease their defensive woes going into the second half of this season.
