The Cherries come to the game still reeling from their heaviest all-time Premier League defeat – 5-0 to Spurs on Boxing Day – and as of such, morale will be a sticking point for the crucial encounter.
United, for their part, will be looking to post yet another big victory in their bid for a top-four finish.
Here’s how both sides are likely to lineup for the weekend fixture:
WATCH: How Solskjaer Reacted After Seeing Sanchez In Training
Solskjaer confirmed that Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez, and Anthony Martial are all fit for the game. However, the Belgian striker will probably only play a substitute role, given the form of Marcus Rashford.
Sanchez is also likely to be used as an impact substitute, although the position that he will occupy will also be an interesting talking point.
Apart from that, the club is still without Scott McTominay, Chris Smalling, and Marcos Rojo. It will be interesting to see whether any other youth academy graduate will be given a start for the game, after the strong showing that Angel Gomes put in on Boxing Day.
Goalkeeper: De Gea
Defenders: Young, Lindelof, Jones, Shaw
Midfielders: Herrera, Matic, Pogba
Forwards: Lingard, Rashford, Martial
Eddie Howe’s side will be keen on attaining something to end the year on a positive note. The Cherries will be bereft of Simon Francis, Lewis Cook, Dan Gosling, and Adam Smith for the crucial game.
Instead, they will be relying on the offensive partnership of Wilson and King to drive their game forward. Placed in the 12th spot, there is not much need for them to worry about the game, but mediocrity has certainly never been Howe’s style.
Defenders: Rico, S Cook, Ake, Daniels
Midfielders: Brooks, Surman, Lerma, Fraser
Forwards: Wilson, King
