Manchester United have been trying to get a new deal for ace goalkeeper David de Gea and forward Anthony Martial. The two players’ contract were extended until June 2020 earlier this season.
The duo has been reluctant to sign long-term deals, but the Premier League club does not wish to lose out on these stars. The Mancunian club values both De Gea and Martial extremely highly, and wants them to be at Old Trafford for the long term.
United sacked former manager Jose Mourinho on December 17th, and replaced the Portuguese with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was handed an interim role until the end of the season.
The legendary striker has already enjoyed two victories in his first two games in charge. There is a wave of positivity at the club now, and smiles have returned to the camp.
Now, Ole’s next target seems to be getting two of its crucial superstars to stay put at the Theatre of Dreams. The Norwegian stated (via Sky Sports): “I know the club want them to sign because they are top quality players.
He further noted that the players are at the best place they could be, and they should fully grasp the opportunity to extend their stay at Old Trafford.
“It’s down to the players, but when you’re at Man United there isn’t a lot of greener grass on the other side. You are at the best place,” said the gaffer.
“It’s the biggest club in the world. If you are a regular at Manchester United, I think you should grasp the opportunity to stay here and become part of the history.”
The Reds face Bournemouth next in the Premier League later tonight.
