Mason Greenwood has been a recurring positive in a season of mixed signals for Manchester United. The 18-year-old has been hyped up for many months now, with the academy graduate putting up promising numbers prior to being trusted with senior starts.
Even though the teenager has been incorporated slowly by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he has lapped up all the chances that he can get and is now a regular for a cameo or even a start in most of United’s games.
The key factor behind this is that Greenwood has been clinical in his finishing and has now become a reliable source of goals.
His winner during the 4-0 win over Norwich City was an apt indication of the same and also set in motion a great achievement.

This Premier League feat is also noteworthy across the top leagues in Europe with only Jadon Sancho being the teenager who has managed more goals.
The tally of 9 for a youngster only halfway through the season is also a remarkable one for Manchester United, especially when one considers that some of their best players from the last campaign only just managed to cross the double-digit mark.
It is fair to say that Greenwood is poised to attain that and then some given the sheer number of fixtures ahead.
Solskjaer was keen on selling Romelu Lukaku and loaning out Alexis Sanchez without securing a replacement precisely due to this potential in Greenwood. While there have undoubtedly been instances where this has backfired and the teenager has proven inadequate, there is no denying that this tally of goals sets a promising precedent.
Further still, if Greenwood can maintain consistency, United genuinely need not spend big on acquiring a back-up striker and could do well to give the starlet more game time, perhaps even letting him challenge Anthony Martial for that starting spot.
