Manchester United are just inches away from securing the services of Bruno Fernandes, as he might have played his final moments for Sporting CP when they squared off against Benfica last night.
The efficacy with which he operates in the centre or attacking midfield added to his consistency makes him quite attractive to giant clubs.
Nevertheless the Mancunian club won the race, having agreed on personal terms with the Portuguese, thus the transfer is expected to actualize soon.
Owing to this link bridging the midfield maestro with the Red Devils, a share of United supporters were seen watching Sporting’s match against Benfica in which Fernandes was highlighted.
The talented midfielder started the match and displayed how much of a loss it would be for the Portuguese side if he departs to England, joining the Mancunians.
The 25-year-old however made the Old Trafford faithful anxious by being so intense, bagging five fouls in total last night. Regardless, the star also created more chances than any other player on the pitch in the game.

Would be harsh to judge the Portuguese league on this alone but it’s been dire. Bruno Fernandes the standout player (that’s not saying much) and he’s predictably suffered a few fouls. Does make you wonder why he’s playing when tens of millions are on the line for Sporting. #mufc

I'm watching Bruno Fernandes in the Sporting v Benfica match. The lad has skills, he carrys the ball well under pressure, runs box to box and is happy to take on the defenders. Just the sort of attacking mid we need.#MUFC

Fernandes plays a bit like an NFL quarterback. He is literally directing his own teammates, telling them where to stand, where to move, when to pass, etc. I have mentioned for a long time that he is an alpha midfielder in his personality and play style. I really hope he comes.

With high odds of the transfer happening before the culmination of the winter window, Mancunian supporters could look forward to his addition in the midfield. The agility and vision the talented midfielder possess could be exploited well by Solskjaer with his eyes fixated on the FA Cup and a top four position in the league.
