Serie A Transfer News & Results
Serie A, also known as the Serie A TIM due to sponsorship reasons, is the primary football competition in Italy. It was established in the year 1929. Lega Calcio began running the Serie A from 1946, and the governing body continued organizing the prestigious tournament until 2010. Since the 2010-11 season, the Lega Serie A was created.
The Italian League is widely regarded as the most tactical football league in the world. It is also ranked fourth among the European football leagues as per UEFA's league coefficient. The Serie A has been responsible for producing the highest number of European Cup finalists – 27 Italian clubs have reached the finals, and 12 of those teams have tasted European glory.
The decorated title is contested by 20 of the best clubs in Italy. Each club faces the 19 others on two different occasions throughout the course of the season, which lasts from August to May. The teams are awarded three points for a victory, one point for a draw, and none for a loss. The position in the league table is determined on the basis of total points. In case of ties, however, the tie-break is decided using the head-to-head records, followed by goal difference of head-to-head records, goal difference of league, most goals for in league, and lastly, a draw.
A total of 66 clubs have featured in the Serie A ever since its establishment, but only 16 of them have managed to win the Italian title – Juventus (32), AC Milan and Inter Milan (18), Genoa (9), Torino, Bologna, and Pro Vercelli (7), Roma (3), Lazio, Napoli, and Fiorentina (2), Cagliari, Casale, Novese, Hellas Verona, and Sampdoria (1)
