How Twitter Reacted To Andreas Pereira’s Stunning 25-Yard Curler vs Southampton
Manchester United were able to defeat Southampton 3-2 at Old Trafford in dramatic fashion, with Romelu Lukaku’s brace proving to be the difference in the game.
The Saints opened the scoring at the Theatre of Dreams via Yan Valery in the first-half itself. It took 53 minutes for United to engineer a response, coming through substitute Diogo Dalot, who upon one minute of being subbed on, deftly passed the ball to Andreas Pereira who, in turn, equalized for the Red Devils.
The young full-back arguably had his best game in a United shirt, as just over five minutes later, he provided the assist to Lukaku’s goal that put United ahead for the first time.
However, it was the sheer beauty of his goal that still stood apart, and several supporters stormed to Twitter to rave about the beauty of that shot.
Pereira needed that. Talented player. Frustrating season for him so far. Hope it relaxes him and gives him confidence. Top finish. What a first league goal in England.

Replay of celebrations on the #mufc bench show Lee Grant back-slapping Kieran McKenna and pointing at him. Suspect he's been working on that with Pereira.

Pereira himself had this to say about his goal, and particularly why he decided to go for the shot rather than pass to Luke Shaw, who appeared to be in a better position to create a goal.
“I practised in training yesterday before which gave me a lot of confidence because I put four in the top corner, so today I had a good feeling and went for it,” said the Brazilian.

Solskjaer, in his post-game comments, seemed to reveal that Pereira will have more gametime coming his way: “So happy for him. Maybe we’ve found a better position for him than a No.6, he’s more of an 8 or a 10.”
With the injury crisis that United presently have at hand, it is marvelous that the Theatre of Dreams gets to witness its academy graduates boss the midfield in such convincing fashion and net screamers.
Just his second goal for United and the first one in the Premier League, more to come for Pereira yet?
