“Every player dreams of this” – Exciting star confirms he is on his way to join Manchester United

Paraguayan full-back Diego Leon is very excited to join Manchester United.

All eyes are on United’s pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo, with the Red Devils engaged in talks with Brentford to find an agreement over a transfer fee for their winger.

Multiple reports have suggested that United are optimistic about finalising a deal with the Bees before the end of this week, as Ruben Amorim gets ready for his first pre-season tour as the club’s head coach.

While we wait for a breakthrough in negotiations for the high-profile transfer, United are set to welcome another signing to Carrington.

Leon is travelling to Manchester to formally join United from Cerro Porteño.

The Premier League giants reached an agreement to sign him from the Paraguayan side in January in a deal worth around £7 million, including add-ons.

He completed his medical tests and agreed to a five-year contract during the winter transfer window itself, but with an understanding that he will link up with the Mancunians in the summer.

On Tuesday, he was interviewed at the airport and was quizzed about United’s plans regarding his development.

The 18-year-old, who is known for his athleticism and intensity, is very much viewed as a signing for the future. However, Leon is keen to make his mark as soon as possible.

“The sensations are inexplicable. You feel so many things. The truth is, I’m very happy, very happy to be there. I think every player dreams of this, and I have the opportunity,” he explained (via Sport Witness).

“Thank God for the opportunity. I think it was a bit quick too, but hey, you have to adapt quickly once you’re there. I’m already a professional. You have to adapt quickly.

“I’ll have to adapt a bit to the climate, the language, and all that. I have a lot of confidence in myself. I’m going to be at the top with them. Now with the faith intact that I can succeed.”

Amorim is expected to include Leon in his squad for the pre-season tour. This should provide the Paraguay U20 international a promising opportunity to show a glimpse of his potential.

Considering how crucial wing-backs are to the Portuguese tactician’s system, Leon’s attacking style could help him catch his manager’s attention sooner than initially anticipated.
