Real Madrid are looking to get in the right replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who left for Italian club Juventus. A host of players have been named to join the Spanish giants, including the likes of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Eden Hazard.

But apart from the trio, the Champions League winners have also identified one of Manchester United‘s star players, in the form of Romelu Lukaku.

The former Chelsea man joined United only last summer, and had a terrific campaign for Jose Mourinho’s side. And now, Real believe that he could be the answer for adding glitter to their highly famed squad.

But they aren’t eyeing Lukaku as a direct replacement for Ronaldo, but rather want him in a swap deal.

According to a report in Spanish outlet Don Balon, the La Liga giants are prepared to use Gareth Bale as a makeweight to convince United to sell the Belgian international. United have been long-term admirers of Bale, and have been linked with a move for the Welshman, who isn’t happy at Real.

After the Champions League final, Bale had admitted that he was frustrated at the lack of game-time at the Bernabeu, and could seek a move away this summer.

It remains to be seen whether the player finds a new lease of life under new manager Julen Lopetegui or decides to part ways with the Madrid club.

If the latter happens, then the likely destination for the Wales international could be Manchester United. And that’s where Real want to play smart and get the maximum out of the deal.

However, it is quite unlikely that the Red Devils will agree to such a swap deal, as Jose values Lukaku as one of his trusted aides.
