Paul Pogba has been providing headlines for quite a while now.
His last season’s drop in performance gave birth to strong links to European giants, with Barcelona, in particular, emerging as a possible destination. Going into the summer window, the possibility seemed ever stronger, all the way up to deadline day.
Now, some of those whispers have come about once more, particularly in view of Manchester United’s recent below-par performances and the doubt that still surrounds Jose Mourinho’s future at Old Trafford.
While the latter has some hope after the welcome 2-0 win at Burnley over the weekend, Pogba may have set his sights on another mentor figure.

As per The Sun, a Red Devils’ source has revealed Pogba’s intention to play under Zinedine Zidane, by alleging: “Paul grew up with Zidane as his hero and would like to play for him at some stage in his career. He could have back at Real, but he felt he had unfinished business at United and their interest only came along very late in the day.”
The Real Madrid legend was the top name to replace Mourinho, as he certainly is the most high-profile name amongst the ones available to take charge of the Mancunian giants.
Reports have even emerged suggesting that the Frenchman would very much like to take up the top post at Old Trafford.
The source adds: “Paul has a similar all action style to Zidane and a lot of what he does was off the back of watching him and learning from him.”
With Barcelona expected to make another attempt at the former Juventus star in January, this apparent wish does seem interesting.
All in all, it seems likely that United will stick with Jose Mourinho, for a long-term plan is in place and the Portuguese gaffer knows his way around the side.
