Much to the delight of each and everyone associated with Manchester United, star goalkeeper David De Gea has finally penned down a new deal with the 20-time English champions.
The Spanish international is set to stay put at Old Trafford until at least June 2023, with an option to extend for a further year.
While supporters have already made their feelings regarding this update clear through reactions on Twitter, De Gea’s fellow teammates have also joined in to have their say on the announcement.
The 28-year-old’s close friend and fellow compatriot, Juan Mata, was one of the first Manchester United players to react to the news, via his own post on social media.
Mata posted an old training picture of himself and De Gea, wherein he can be seen holding onto the shot-stopper in a training exercise.
Knowing the brilliant thinker and writer than this playmaker is, Mata has made poetic use of the photo to imply how he, just like everyone at Manchester United, intends to hold onto De Gea and never let him go.
De Gea and Mata’s former teammate and beloved amigo, Ander Herrera, also reacted to the contract news by commenting on the custodian’s Instagram post.

David posted a brilliant announcement video featuring himself right after the news was made official, on which Herrera was seen commenting “LEYENDA,” meaning legend.
